SAVE MORE BY STAYING HOME TO SHOP THIS BLACK FRIDAY
Online shopping continues to emerge as a preferred choice for many. Of those who have tried it, anyway – are you one of them? But not everyone has given it the same chance, so some still rely on the old fashioned way: Picking up their presents (whether for themselves or others). Part of failed influence on classic shoppers moving over to the modernized ways is that not all of the benefits always transfer over so there’s a lack of obvious incentive for them to do so. Even those who love online shopping have had to resort to the dreaded mall visit every now and then, if there was a good enough reason that couldn’t be accomplished online. And what could such a reason be? A sale (and we don’t blame you). Online shopping provides us with better access, more efficient transactions, and often allows us to be the most savvy shopper we can in a multitude of ways. But, there are times when retailers still choose to offer the better deal to those who visit. Sure, we can breakdown the financials and find a rationalization but all in all we’re annoyed by it, too. The good news is that these trends seem to be changing and Black Friday sales appearing online are a good start. These promotions appearing online is relatively new to the common consumer, but we’re certainly happy to see the progress. Which websites do you have bookmarked for the sales that will follow?
Black Friday Versus Cyber Monday
Cyber Monday is a much newer promotional tactic than Black Friday – the latter being the one most consumers are already aware of. The real world differences in today’s marketplace? The date they fall on – that’s it. The main concept of both is to have blockbuster type sales and promotions that generate excitement and anticipation in hopes of generating transactions. Many retailers have been taking advantage of the Black Friday label for years, whereas Cyber Monday still works to catch-up on its appeal. Regardless of the label the merchant chooses to blanket the sale with, consumers can benefit from each or both and beyond as long as they continue to go about their shopping in a savvy fashion. What does it all mean? Do your research and browse a little – don’t just get caught up in one sale, try to benefit as much as you can from the broad selection we now have to choose from. Black Friday may have what you want, so get it; Cyber Monday may offer a better deal for you, so wait; both might have something you’ve been waiting for, so take advantage. Another great benefit of online shopping is that you have full control to be smarter with what you buy, where, and when in a much more efficient way than you can at the mall.
Should I Just Wait For Boxing Day?
That’s up to you: Did you find something that you’ve wanted or needed and can finally justify purchasing or is there not enough to sway you yet at this point? If it’s the latter, then wait. If not, make it happen. But just remember, you don’t want to wait too long on making up your mind as some sales are time sensitive so you’ll need to take advantage a little more quickly than you may be used to throughout the rest of the year. If you do choose to wait for Boxing Day (or you’re just going to add it to the many other days you’ll enjoy shopping), read our post to help ensure you take full advantage of it.

Sales, Sales, & More Sales
There’s no question that you’ll see some pretty big discounts – online and in person – this upcoming weekend, wrapped up nicely into the marketing that is Black Friday/Cyber Monday. However, any savvy consumer would be able to attest to the fact that these so called “sales” are not so uncommon throughout the year. That’s not to say that you won’t stumble upon some great finds online, it’s just to reiterate that this isn’t the only time of the year that you’ll find some. Again, if you see something on sale now that you’ve waited long enough for then get it.
