Canada now allows people to import certain vaping products that were previously prohibited.
The new customs ruling stems from the Tobacco and Vaping Products Act (TPVA), passed last spring that made more e-liquids allowed for personal use.
The following are now permissible for personal shipment:
TPVA allows over-the-counter or natural health product ingredients for personal use — with or without health claims — and re-usable delivery systems. Only reasonable amounts are allowed for 90-day supply within a 90-day period.
Regarding commercial shipments, vaping products with no health claims and no health product ingredients and contain nicotine as the sole ingredient is now permissible for import into Canada.
However, commercial shipments of unlicensed vaping products and any vaping products that make health claims regardless of ingredients are not admissible to Canada.
